I remember the big kitchen table from my childhood and the aroma of warm, freshly baked rusks – straight from the oven. This memory spontaneously stirs up memories of warmth, compassion and the feeling of belonging - from jovial laughter around this big kitchen table, to intimate heart-to-heart talks, shared with friends and family. All these moments I associate with the authentic South African cup of coffee and rusks to go along with it.

Now as an adult, I am proud to uphold this tradition. In our house, there is always a rumbling tummy, or a someone that simply has a craving for something “lekker”! From visiting friends, rumbling tummies after their return from a day on the sports field – to begging doggie-faces for their piece of “heaven”, I call them all Jêmbekkies!

Jêmbekkies is a bakery that authentically bakes rusks and biscuits but we are always working on something new and exciting!

Jêmbekkies was born in difficult times, but has given me and my family a chance to start a business that has enourmous potential. We have grown from supplying only rusks among friends and family, to extending my range, as well as my clientbase to retail, coffee shops and the corporate environment. This was done without giving much priority to marketing. The product spoke for itself and areas were extended to the Northern Suburbs, Overstrand, South Coast and Boland.

Our products are handmade with care and passion and no substandard ingredients or preservatives are used. Standards are set high with the end goal of never settling for anything less than perfection for our customers.
